Existential dinner party

When I got this assignment I immediately imagined a clear picture of my party in my head. The first thing that came to my mind was that my party would definitely be philosophical, where we would discuss all the global, extensive and psychological questions, topics and issues. We’ll not come to the solution to everything, but just share our points of view and maybe get some new ideas. The point of such discussions is to reach these endless conversations that go deeper till you lose the logical point and feel as if you were among eternity in the infinite stream of universes where our small lifes do not matter…

Oops, I got carried away a little, so, now I’d like to tell you a big secret of whom I would long for to invite.

The first would be USSR famous dancer — Mikhail Baryshnikov. I’m enamored of his techniques. At first he started his career as a soloist in the USSR, but after a dance tour in Toronto he made a decision to stay in the USA. That’s how he became an American actor and ballet dancer who was the preeminent male classical dancer of the 1970s and 80s. (He later became a noted dance director.) As he took part in different productions I’ve noticed the tendency of choosing serious and profound plays, that’s why I think he would definitely have something to say at my dinner party.

The second guest would be my favorite russian actor Konstantin Khabensky. I’m amazed by his absolutely brilliant works, his unbelievable ability to convey so many emotions while acting and what is important in choosing him as a guest, is his genre and theme choices. I’m sure he likes deep discussions and profound topics as I can judge by the style of his works and the way he plays in such films and TV shows where all the darkest themes are touched upon. Moreover, his directing is also worth mentioning, though I appreciate his acting. That’s why I would welcome him here at my dinner party to reflect on our lives and themes of existential ambivalence. Moreover, just look into his eyes, they are the eyes of a wise man or sage.

The third in line goes the amazing korean film director Bong Joon Ho who created such a masterpiece as “Parasite” that has won the Oscar for the best film. As I know his work through “behind the scenes” of the movie, his thoughts about it, his idea that he wanted to express and how wonderfully he managed to do it, I’m inviting him without any doubt. The style of his works, his ability to work hard, his interest in such profound and serious topics makes him the best director in my mind. That’s why I would be glad to invite him.

The forth wonderful person would be spanish surrealist artist — Salvador Dalí. He is known for his technical skills, precision of expressions of his ideas and what is most appealing is his striking and bizzare images in his work. I really relish his perception of the world and the philosophy that he follows touches such timeless themes that are always interesting to discuss. His major themes in his work included dreams, the subconscious, sexuality, religion, science and his closest personal relationships. That’s why I’m sure he would make an interesting company to talk to and ask his opinion about certain topics.

And for the fifth visitor, I would like to invite beautiful and gorgeous singer Amy Winehouse. She is a soul and jazz singer and is best remembered for her last album Back to Black that actually became a hit in the UK and the best selling album of the 21st century! This magnificent woman was the first British female to win five Grammys! I’m not surprised by this fact because her work is just as amazing as her vocal skills. Most of all that I appreciate in her is how brilliantly she mixed the styles of music and performed the songs in an eccentric manner.

The last but not the least guest would be (that may surprise you) talented USSR and Russian musician Mikhail Gorshenev. He founded a renowned outstanding russian band “Korol i shut” (Kish) with his friend. This remarkable artist raised in his works such profound and significant for our life topics that we can surely discuss during our dinner party. He was that creative person who inspired other members of the group and its fans with the lyrics and beautiful folk punk rock music. I would be really happy to meet him at my gathering.
