I’m reading a really wonderful book! It’s called “Dear John”. This book tells us a romantic and at the same time realistic story about true love. I found some interesting words and phrases while I was reading it.

Here they are:

“Holly cow” -yeah, at first sight it seems to mean blessed cow, but no, it’s kind of an expression of “oh my god”

“Geez”- It means like “devil”or when we use the word “pancake” in Russian:)

The word portending means being a sign that something bad is likely to happen in future.

Standoffish- behaving in a slightly unfriendly and too formal way. Which can be used as negative and good way.
